Our goal is to read and discuss books that deal with social justice issues that affect us today.  We want to broaden our understanding of these issues in order to more effectively create change.

Our next book club meeting will be Saturday, May 5th from 12pm to 2pm.  We will meet at the Snake and Butterfly in downtown Campbell.

We will be reading the book Evicted by Matthew Desmond.  SURJ has been focusing a lot on the housing crisis in the South Bay, but we have a crisis across this country.  Although it affects white people, it is especially hard on people of color. 

There are copies of this book available on Amazon, Recycle Bookstore in Campbell, (probably San Jose as well, but I didn't check), and most certainly your local library.

We will spend the first hour reading (you don't have to read in advance) and the second hour discussing the issues that came up in the reading and talk about any questions that arose.
