SURJ has two active local campaigns. We will be showing up to the San Jose Unified Equity Coalition Community Forum this same afternoon from 2-4pm and to the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, November 17 to put forward alternatives to policing and jails. For this hour, we will gather for companionable work time in which will try to add art and life and poetry and song to our testimony scripts for these campaigns. Ideally we will have time not only to build our own 1 minute testimony scripts (based on the asks of our accountability partners) but develop a pool of material that other SURJers can draw from for their own scripts. This time is not intended to draw you away from the SJUSD community forum—if you only have time for one SURJ activity on Sunday, go to that! :) This time is intended to be useful for both that campaign and our action at the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday November 17th.
