FUN AWAITS! Come on out on Friday February 7th from 6:30-8:30pm at Sacred Heart (in the Fiesta room on the second floor) to work with your hands and share conversation! The Art Working Group is hosting an introductory workshop to linocut printing, which involves carving text or an image, inking it and using it to make prints. It's like a slightly more elaborate form of stamp making. :) This will be a postcard making workshop so that we can have linocuts ready to print lots and lots of postcards when we need to do advocacy campaigns to our elected officials, or send out reminders or encouragements to folks. Tools and materials will be provided and no artistic ability nor previous experience is required. :) This is a family friend event and all are welcome. Parking at Sacred Heart is free; enter through the volunteer entrance. Come build skills, build community and build power!
P.S. If you have a simple and short slogan that you know you would like to carve, email it to jennifermyhre@1500stories.org and I will prepare it in advance. But it's okay if you don't--I'll show you some easy tricks for making sure your letters come out facing the right direction!
