This SURJ chapter is based at Sacred Heart Community Service, a secular organization that provides social services to folks in need and organizes for justice to change the conditions that produce that need in the first place.  SURJ is only one of 5 organizing committees there.  Sacred Heart also provides organizing training to groups throughout the region through its Sacred Heart Organizing Institute (SHOI).  The next SHOI training will be virtual on Saturday December 3 from 10am-1pm.   These trainings are both a great opportunity to deepen our organizing skills and also to strengthen community and connection with people who are directly affected by racism and poverty.  The December 3 training will focus on how to decide on the best issue for your campaign - and how to deal when your campaign issue is not exactly "perfect." We'll build our political analysis skills and leave with an action plan we can use right away.  All are welcome, no matter what level of experience you have.  Even though we take on campaigns that our accountability partners are engaged in, this training can help us hone and clarify what SURJ's lane can be in those campaigns.
