Sacred Heart Community Service Solidarity Summit

  • Downtown College Prep 1402 Monterey Road San Jose, CA, 95110 United States (map)

On Saturday, September 17th, Sacred Heart’s most committed members will come together to live out the vision of a community united to end poverty.  The first ever in-person Solidarity Summit will feature keynote speakers, presentation of a community agenda, and workshops focused on topics related to housing, racial justice, economic justice and more!  The Solidarity Summit is a place for us to learn about things like racial justice and the housing crisis, but more importantly, it’s a place for us to learn about how we can take action against these daily injustices and unite in solidarity.

The Solidarity Summit is a great opportunity to connect and build relationship with leaders in our partner committees at Sacred Heart Community Service, including Race, Equity and Community Safety (RECS), the Sacred Heart Housing Action Committee (SHHAC), Survivors of the Street (SOS), and PASOS. In addition, in the morning workshops there will be deep dives into local housing campaigns and the San Jose Re-Imagining Public Safety recommendations. The afternoon plenary will showcase a successful effort in Berkeley to remove law enforcement from traffic enforcement and local work right here in Santa Clara Count to fight for and implement the TRUST program—a trusted responders crisis response line without law enforcement modeled after the Eugene OR CAHOOTS program.
