Q: Why should I attend the forum even if I don’t live in District 3 or District 7?

A: Once again, because the forums are about showing power through our numbers. Also, every single council member has an impact on the policies that affect all SJ residents. And SJ policy decisions influence all of the other local cities.

For candidate forums at Sacred Heart Community Service, leaders from our organizing committees (including SURJ!) write questions designed to get candidates to commit to policies we can hold them accountable to later.  When we show up to these forums in big numbers, candidates learn that we will show up in big numbers if they don't do the right thing.   That is why you should go to forums sponsored by SHCS and why you should encourage other people you know to attend our forums.  Big turnout allows us to hold whomever gets elected to their promises.
