Social Justice Sewing Academy Workshop

  • San Jose Textile Museum 520 South 1st Street San Jose, CA, 95113 United States (map)

Founded in 2016, the Social Justice Sewing Academy is a critical education program that bridges artistic expression with activism. By using textile art as a vehicle for personal transformation and community cohesion SJSA empowers participants to become agents of social change. In SJSA workshops, participants design 15x15 inch quilt squares that reflect their anger, sadness or passion about the social justice issue of their choice. Using art as an organized methodology, we promote a model that actively engages in conversations with our surrounding community through the lens of contemporary art. To learn more about SJSA please check out @sjsacademy and www.sjsacademy.com.
