SURJers showed up to protect the Sanctuary policy in Santa Clara County
The Immigration Issue Group focuses on immigration as a racial justice issue, such as criminalization of immigration, detention, surveillance, deportation and privatization.
The Immigration Issue Group meets every 2nd Thursday of the month, from 6:30 to 7:30. Check the Action Calendar for the Zoom link. Contact Kim Guptill at kimguptill@gmail.com for more information.
Here’s a sample of what we do during our meetings:
• doing education sessions with our member experts on the legal landscape, Latin American history, etc.;
• meeting regularly with our Accountability Partners: the RRN & PASOS;
• preparing testimony and showing up at City Council and Board of Supervisor meetings on the regular;
• mobilizing SURJers for marches/rallies/protests at ICE offices, elected officials’ offices, the federal building in SJ, and, of course, at Story & King;
• being trained and serving as "De-Escalators" at public events for immigrants
You, too, can join/rejoin the ranks. It's good work!
