THIS MONTH WE WILL MEET AT THE SJ CITY HALL AT 200 E SANTA CLARA ST BECAUSE SURJ HAS BEEN ASKED TO SHOW UP IN SOLIDARITY WITH OUR PARTNERS TO SUPPORT EMERGENCY INTERIM HOUSING. We will meet in the lobby outside City Council chambers at 7pm; please text 845-325-1633 for help finding us. This way folks can be present when they discuss Agenda Item 8.3 and make public comment if they wish.

NOTE: This working group usually meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month, but since that falls during the week of Thanksgiving the November meeting has been pushed back until the fifth Tuesday.

Building the Movement Working Group invites people into SURJ and gets them engaged. We widen our circle of outreach to bring more white folks and other folks with privilege into the work of racial justice. This group is charged with cold outreach, with educational outreach (the former Education Working Group now joins this meeting), with faith outreach and ally building, and with orientation and retention of new members. Whether you are an extrovert who loves connecting with new people or an introvert who enjoys a deep dive with another person, this is a good working group for you!
