Tabling at the Re-Entry Center

SURJ has been advocating for the expansion of the TRUST program (non-police mental health crisis and substance use response) for the past 2+ years, building on years of work done by RECS for the Re-Imagining Public Safety process and SV De-Bug in establishing TRUST in the first place. 

We believe in centering and amplifying the voices of the most impacted members of the community, which is why we are doing outreach to formerly incarcerated community members at the Re-Entry Center. We believe these community members have an expertise that our decision-makers desperately need to hear.  These folks can show policy makers what’s at stake, and that it’s crucial to expand services like TRUST to meet community needs.
